Hi, A Very

Happy Easter!

For those of you following our Hen saga I have an update.

She is painted!

From conception:

To Cut out  and sanding:

To painting our little Lady:

The Back is Done!

Front done!

Painting finished!

Oh, no she's missing that sparkle in her eye.

Excuse me I need to add the sparkle!

Now we let the paint dry for at least 24 hours.

Then we begin the hand rubbed application of our special mixture of  food grade mineral oil and yellow bees wax.

We will, next time, show you the difference in Henrietta Hen with and without her protective oil and wax.
Thank you for sharing our experience of the birth of Henrietta Hen.

For you, Amy!

Update on Hen Cutting board!

If you've been checking out our blog then you know my sister requested that we add a Hen to our Farm Animal Cutting Boards Collection.

I did several drafts of patterns before I came up with one I thought would work:

She had to have a large enough surface to use as a cutting board.
And she had to have a flat edge to stand her up so her painted surface could be displayed.
Plus, she had to be pleasant to look at as well as identify her as a hen!
I then text a picture of the design to my sister to see if our lady chicken 'fit the bill'!

She did!

Then we had trouble finding the right Oak board that was long enough and wide enough plus the right thickness!

What luck, we had this board all a long just under our noses!
We had a wall in our living room that was an oak and brick
'college book case' when we were younger!
And the boards had gone to good use as other things.   BUT we had one left! After rearranging our wood piles (he accumulated from helping others clear problem trees by milling them on site) we found  the board.
He took the board to a friend to plane.
And here she is cut out and getting sanded to hone her lovely features!

I can't wait to paint and finish her with our special mix of food grade mineral oil and yellow bees wax.

Thanks for reading our blog! Hope to give you an update on her painting and finish  right after Easter!

Happy Easter everyone!

Hey, there!

It's me again. I want to keep you updated on the prep for a hen cutting board.

After several attempts to draw a nice, pleasing and viable cutting board I came up with this:

And this is the one I took a picture of and texted to my sister!

And Amy gave her approval for this design!

Next it goes to the woodworker to cut out this sweet lady!

I'll give you an update when she's cut out!

Until then still waiting for your ideas....

Thank you for checking us out!

Hello,

My sister has chickens! She loves watching and interacting with them, and vice versa.

While on FB(FaceBook) she saw our Whimsical Cow cutting board. She suggested a chicken! What a great idea.
What would you like to see as a magnet or a cutting board? We're really liking the animal theme but we would love any suggestions! Just leave me a comment! I'll show you my design and you can tell me what you think!
Thank you for sharing your time with us!
Have a great day!

We've added Three new items to our shop!

At the suggestion to what animals are in now we've come up with two new designs and reissued another:

Introducing:

Our Whimsical Cow Cutting Board in Red Oak

Her cutting
 side

Her doing lunch or antipasto.

Next:

Our Flocked Lamb Refrigerator Magnet

Just In Time for Spring!

He's flocked times two. Once before the Lacquer and second after to add more dimension

Last but not least:

Our Pink Little Piggy

This little piggy is brought back for my mom.

Mom collected pigs because they reminded her of feeding their pigs with her Dad, when she was little.
I found one in some of her things she had given me a while ago.

I just love Spring and it's rebirth of all of the sleeping fauna and flora.
Life validated.
The air is sweeter, the grass is greener and all the bulbs and buds come to life! And soon we won't have to put on shoes and coats to step outside and enjoy the joys nature shares.
Such an appropriate time for Easter.

If you have a suggestion for a magnet or cutting board you would like to see let me know.
Thank you for coming and sharing my site.
Have a great spring day!

Have you ever just ran around doing too many things? Just weren't getting one of them done? Well that was me today!

Then my beautiful daughter came to visit and, of course, that trumps everything.

I still managed to get a couple pictures taken of two new items to our Etsy shoppe!

This is our Patriotic Welcome Plaque

It has 3 Keyhole hooks on the back to secure it firmly anywhere and Two very strong, rare earth magnets on the back to secure it to a metal door!
(as in the above picture)

This is our Salt Glazed Refrigerator magnet!
How Country or even neo-modern!

I really love crocks.

Check them out at:
They are all designed, cut out, sanded, hand painted and finished by my husband Nick and I.
Thank you for checking out our blog today. I hope to show some how-to
blogs
in the future!
